One man’s Daily Moral Inventory

Quiet Time...

Father God, I worship You for all that You are and all things You do that I do not deserve. I exalt You for not giving me all that I do deserve for the wages of sin is death. I praise You for the very salvation that You provide because of the cross, Your blood, and Your love for me that; I am forgiven for all of my sins against You and others. There is nothing that I could have ever done to earn Your mercy for me. Your grace is the free gift from God of eternal life through Jesus Christ my personal Lord and savior.

As I put on the full body of armor of God for defense against the enemy; I ask You to give me the insight of Your Word in all of the situations that I am required to utilize the sword. I thank You for my wife and children, my family and friends, and all of the people that You put in my life for fellowship. I ask You to place in my heart; more appreciation, understanding, and love for others than I have for myself. I thank You for the air, rest, food, health, clothing, and shelter that You provide for me. I ask You to place in my heart; more gratitude for all of the people, places, and things in my life that I often overlook and that I take for granted.

As I walk through this day that the Lord has made; I ask You to help me to stay away from selfishness; and to remove all of the desire, cravings, and unhealthy beliefs that I have for the sinful things in this world. Please give me the wisdom, courage, and strength to keep my eyes on You Jesus; for I can walk on the water only through You.

Friday 5th July, 2019

Lord, I confess my attitudes of stubborness, losing temper, and wrong motives. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of brokeness, self control, and spiritual motives concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubborness is as bad as worshipping idols. So because you have rejected the Word of the Lord, He has rejected you from being king." (1 Samuel 15:23)

"Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to its lustful desires. Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace." (Romans 6:12-14)

"Good news from far away is like cold water to the thirsty. If the godly compromise with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring. Just as it is not good to eat too much honey, it is not good for people to think about all the honors they deserve. A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls". (Proverbs 25:25-28)

"There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. It is good for workers to have an appetite; an empty stomach drives them on. Scoundrels hunt for scandal; their words are a destructive blaze. A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Violent people deceive their companions, leading them down a harmful path. With narrowed eyes, they plot evil; without a word, they plan their mischief. Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living a godly life. It is better to be patient than powerful; it is better to have self-control than to conquer a city. We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall". (Proverbs 16:25-33)

"Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't make decisions the way you do! People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person's thoughts and intentions". (1 Samuel 16:7)

"Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Lord, I confess my attitudes of pride, strife / contention, and idle words. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of humility, peace, and bridle tongue concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"We can gather our thoughts, but the Lord gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Commit your work to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed. The Lord has made everything for His own purposes, even the wicked for punishment. The Lord despises pride; be assured that the proud will be punished." (Proverbs 16:1-5)

"He gives us more and more strength to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, 'God sets Himself against the proud, but He shows favor to the humble.' So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites. Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on Him, He will lift you up and give you honor." (James 4:6-10)

"A wise child accepts a parent's discipline; a young mocker refuses to listen. Good people enjoy the positive results of their words, but those who are treacherous crave violence. Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything. Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied. Those who are godly hate lies; the wicked come to shame and disgrace. Godliness helps people all through life, while the evil are destroyed by their wickedness. Some who are poor pretend to be rich; others who are rich pretend to be poor. The rich can pay a ransom, but the poor won't even get threatened. The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the sinner's light is snuffed out. Pride leads to arguments; those who take advice are wise". (Proverbs 13:1-10)

"If you are wise and understand God's ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth. And if you don't brag about the good you do, then you will be truly wise! But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your hearts, don't brag about being wise. That is the worst kind of lie. For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by the devil. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and every kind of evil. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness." (James 3:13-18)

"For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good words from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil words from an evil heart. And I tell you this, that you must give an account on judgment day of every idle word you speak. The words you say now reflect your fate then; either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:34-37)

"Whoever pursues godliness and unfailing love will find life, godliness, and honor. The wise conquer the city of the strong and level the fortress in which they trust. If you keep your mouth shut, you will stay out of trouble. Mockers are proud and haughty; they act with boundless arrogance. The desires of lazy people will be their ruin, for their hands refuse to work. They are always greedy for more, while the godly love to give! God loathes the sacrifice of an evil person, especially when it is brought with ulterior motives. A false witness will be cut off, but an attentive witness will be allowed to speak. The wicked put up a bold front, but the upright proceed with care. Human plans, no matter how wise or well advised, cannot stand against the Lord. The horses are prepared for battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord." (Proverbs 21:21-31)

Lord, I confess my attitudes of unforgiving spirit, disrespect for authority, and covetousness. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of forgiving spirit, honor authority, and contentedness concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"Listen to Me! You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you will have it. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too." (Mark 11:24-26)

"Since God chose you to be the holy people whom He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others." (Colossians 3:12-13)

"Gazing intently at the high council, Paul began: 'Brothers, I have always lived before God in all good conscience!' Instantly Ananias the high priest comanded those close to Paul to slap him on the mouth. but Paul said to him, 'God will slap you, you whitewashed wall! What kind of judge are you to break the law yourself by ordering me struck like that?' Those standing near Paul said to him, 'Is that the way to talk to God's high priest?' I'm sorry, brothers. I didn't realize he was the high priest, Paul replied, for the Scriptures say, 'Do not speak evil of anyone who rules over you'." (Acts 23:1-5)

"Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they know they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this joyfully and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit." (Hebrews 13:17)

"Beware! Don't be greedy for what you don't have. Real life is not measured by how much we own." (Luke 12:15)

"Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never forsake you.' That is why we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me'?" (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Lord, I confess my attitudes of lack of love, jealousy, and slothfulness. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of love, trust, and wholeheartedness concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is born of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God - for God is love. God showed how much He loved us by sending His only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. If someone says, 'I love God,' but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we have not seen"? (1 John 4:7-10, 20)

"I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you." (John 15:12)

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another." (Galatians 5:24-26)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths. Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn your back on evil. Then you will gain renewed health and vitality." (Proverbs 3:5-8)

"A recluse is self-indulgent, snarling at every sound principle of conduct. Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. When the wicked arrive, contempt, shame, and disgrace are sure to follow. A person's words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook. It is wrong for a judge to favor the guilty or condemn the innocent. Fools get into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating. The mouths of fools are their ruin; their lips get them into trouble. What dainty morsels rumors are - but they sink deep into one's heart. A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things. The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe. The rich think of their wealth as an impregnable defense; they imagine it is a high wall of safety. Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor." (Proverbs 18:1-12)

"Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ." (Colossians 3:23-24)

Monday 1st July, 2019

Lord, I confess my attitudes of irritation to others, murder, and complacency. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of preferring in love, affection, and zeal concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing." (Philippians 2:3-4)

"Do not murder". (Exodus 20:13)

"Pay all your debts, except the debt of love for others. You can never finish paying that! If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill all the requirements of God's law. For the commandments against adultery and murder and stealing and coveting - and any other commandment - are all summed up in this one commandment: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements." (Romans 13:8-10)

"I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out of My mouth! You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked." (Revelation 3:15-17)

"I am the One who corrects and disciplines everyone I love. Be diligent and turn from your indifference. Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear Me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends. I will invite everyone who is victorious to sit with Me on My throne, just as I was victorious and sat with My Father on His throne." (Revelation 3:19-21)

Lord, I confess my attitudes of bitterness, discontent, and evil speaking. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of tenderhearted & forgiving, contentment, and good report concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"Try to live in peace with everyone, and seek to live a clean and holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you will miss out on the special favor of God. Watch out that no bitter root of unbelief rises up among you, for whenever it springs up, many are corrupted by its poison." (Hebrews 12:14-15)

"And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He is the One who has identified you as His Own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." (Ephesians 4:30-32)

"After all, we didn't bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows". (1 Timothy 6:7-10)

"Don't speak evil against each other, My dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize each other and condemn each other, then you are criticizing and condemning God's law. But you are not a judge who can decide whether the law is right or wrong. Your job is to obey it. God alone, who made the law, can rightly judge among us. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to condemn your neighbor?" (James 4:11-12)

"The Lord despises the thoughts of the wicked, but He delights in pure words. Dishonest money brings grief to the whole family, but those who hate bribes will live. The godly think before speaking; the wicked spout evil words. The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayers of the righteous. A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. If you reject criticism, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Fear of the Lord teaches a person to be wise; humility precedes honor." (Proverbs 16:26-33)

Lord, I confess my attitudes of jealousy, wrath, and hatred. I was wrong in all of these attitudes and I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask You to put on me the attitudes of trust, soft answer, and devotion concerning my interaction with others. Father God, what do You want to show me today about my attitude and how I can better respond to Your command to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the nations?

"My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God's sight. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save your souls. And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. If you don't obey, you are only fooling yourself. For if you just listen and don't obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like". (James 1:19-24)

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger. The wise person makes learning a joy; fools spout only foolishness. The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping His eye on both the evil and the good. Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Only a fool despises a parent's discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise." (Proverbs 15:1-5)

"You have heard that the law of Moses says, 'Do not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.' But I say, if you are angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the high council. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell." (Matthew 5:21-22)

"If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed My body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would be of no value whatsoever. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." (1 Corinthians 13:3-7)
